Learn to play the drums

Matt Furness Drum TeacherDrum lessons with Matt are bespoke to each individual student, what they are looking to achieve and their ability. Lessons will focus on technique, co-ordination, reading drum notation and keeping time, but most importantly having fun whilst learning.

fun bespoke lessons

Matt relates very well to youngsters who are keen to play the drums. Learning a musical instrument helps kids build a confidence about themselves as they develop their new found skill, getting better after each and every lesson. This can also help improve social skills, whilst at the same time improving discipline within their lives as they will need to concentrate during the lesson as well as practice to prepare for the next one.

Matt uses the Rockschool music qualifications as a structure to his teaching as they are tailor-made for the modern day musician. They range from beginner grades through to advanced, so that the students’ hard work is rewarded by a valuable qualification whether they are young or old. All of Matt’s students are encouraged to enter the Rockschool graded exams if they wish.

Lesson prices depend on their duration as you can choose between 30, 45 and 60 minutes. However for an hours lesson you can pay as little as £28 when booked as a block of five lessons and paid for in advance, which is more than £14 under the minimum rate recommended by the Musicians Union. This represents excellent value, so book today before any price increases by getting in touch with Matt on 07935 748383, or via the Contact page.

Matt teaches from his home in Carleton Rode which is fully equipped with both acoustic and electronic drum kits, so students can have their lessons on either.
